Skincare ensures the general well-being of the skin and helps avoid the multiple adverse conditions that the skin is prone to.  The skin is the largest organ of the body which protects us from micro-organisms and the elements of nature.

Skin types and the various care routines required.

Skincare is effective depending on the particular skin type involved. There are five major types of skin, they include

  • dry skin which is usually flaky or rough,
  • oily skin which is greasy,
  • sensitive skin which might itch or burn to certain cosmetic products,
  • normal skin type, which is balanced and clear, and finally,
  • combination skin type which is usually a mix of dry and oily in different spots.

Skincare requires finding what works for your skin type and not just going with whatever that’s available. For the normal skin type and the combination skin type, a gentle cleanser or soap is usually required. It is applied with the tip of the finger and afterward, rinsed off with plenty of warm water and then patted dry. If the skin dries out or gets oily, then another cleanser or soap is used.

Skincare for the dry skin type usually requires a gentle cleanser that does not have alcohol or scents. It is then rinsed off with plenty of warm water, not hot because hot water removes the natural oils from your face at a faster rate. Then, usually, once a week, try to exfoliate, as this gets rid of flaky skin cells and leaves you with clearer, more even skin.

Skincare for the oily skin type requires the application of an oil-free foaming cleanser to wash your skin. You could use a toner afterward but be careful so you don’t choose a product that irritates your skin.

Skincare for the sensitive skin type doesn’t need many ingredients in a product, in fact, the lesser or fewer the ingredients in a product, the better.

All skin types, however, need to be moisturized at least every day.
