What is PRP therapy?

PRP  is a treatment in which a concentration of the patient’s platelets is injected into the patients to aid in the healing of injuries of the tendons, joints, muscles, and even skin whether major or minor ones but in most cases, this therapy is used to treat hair loss conditions. Plasma is the liquid part of the blood which is composed mainly of water and protein while the platelets are blood cells that are responsible for blood clotting and healing processes.

How does Platelet Rich Plasma therapy work?

PRP therapy in a way that the dermatologist draws some blood from the patient then separates the platelet-rich plasma from the blood using a machine called the centrifuge. Once the platelets are injected or micro needled into the skin, they break down and release compounds that will aid cells to renew and heal but it may take a while before the effects of the therapy can be noticed depending on what part of the body is being treated.

PRP therapy’s key advantage is that it has little or no side effects on the patient.

Functions of Platelet Rich Plasma

-PRP stimulates hair growth and reverses hair loss
-PRP enhances collagen growth which improves scars
-PRP treats facial conditions such as acne and wrinkles as well as smoothens and firms the skin
-PRP heals injuries and pains
