The team at Dermatology Specialists of Charlotte is proud to participle in clinical research and clinical research trials. Trials are the testing of new treatments. We often have research trials going on and are looking for patients to participate.

Currently, we have three clinical research trials that we are searching for participants for Alopecia areata, Atopic dermatitis, and Acne Vulgaris. You can always find a listing of our current clinical research projects on our website.

Who can participate?

People participate in clinical research for many reasons. Some are simply looking for a way to help others, others may be looking for a way to earn money (though not all research or trials is paid). Others still may be patients for whom current treatments are not working or not working well.

Whatever the reason or reasons you are considering participating in clinical research, not everyone is able to participate in all research or trials. Each trial will have criteria people must meet to be a part of the study. This can include having the disease or disorder that is being researched, meeting certain age requirements, and the ability to commit to a certain number of visits to the doctor.

Participating in research is not something to be taken lightly. Before you agree to join a trial that was not already recommended by your doctor, talk with your physician. You should also be sure to get all the information possible on the trial so you know what is expected of you to ensure you are able to meet the commitment.

Charlotte, NC residents can help find new treatments to dermatological issues by participating in these research trials. Our research coordinator is available to answer questions and go over the trials currently available at Dermatology Specialists of Charlotte. For more information, email us at research@dscmd.com.
